Il y a 1 an, le 10 mars 2000, le Nasdaq de la bourse américaine des entreprises en haute technologie avait atteint son record de 5,048 points et ceci après une augmentation vertigineuse de 100% en 6 mois. A cette époque, si les investisseurs ne pouvaient pas augmenter la valeur de leurs actions de plus de 60%, ils étaient tout simplement déçus. Le summum de telles actions est atteint par des compagnies biotechniques, médicales, ²dot.com ², des multimédia et autres domaines de la haute technologie. Pour obtenir un capital-fonds de plusieurs millions, il suffisait simplement aux jeunes entrepreneurs de présenter un plan commercial rempli d’idées nouvelles.

Après un retard de plus de 10 ans, cette euphorie est arrivée en Suisse. Il y a juste un an, ne pouvant obtenir un seul centime des banques suisses, quelques jeunes et hardis entrepreneurs ont fait leur valise et sont allés désespérément tenter leur chance du côté de la Silicon Valley. SMX, version suisse du Nasdaq, a évolué dans le même sens qu’en Amérique et subitement plusieurs nouvelles start-ups ont vu le jour : telle que Think Tool où on a pu observer une augmentation de 300% de la valeur d’émission.

Ensuite, la situation commence à se modifier. Entre mars et avril 2000, le Nasdaq perd 34% de sa valeur pour atteindre le 2 janvier 2001 son record le plus bas de 2,292 points, ce qui correspond à une baisse de 55% en 1 année. En Suisse, vu que la part de ²dot.com ² et de B2C (business to consumers, sites commerciaux destinés aux consommateurs) étant moins importante, et qu’il existe une plus grande variété de compagnies high-tech, la situation ne s’est pas dégradée de la même façon. Les investisseurs continuent leurs activités mais ils deviennent beaucoup plus sélectifs. Premièrement, ils évaluent la valeur de l’objet de façon beaucoup plus critique, Deuxièmement, ils exigent une plus grande participation au capital (20% au lieu de 10%) et troisièmement, ils insistent pour que le budget s’équilibre sur une période de 2 à 3 ans, et pas au-delà de 10 ans.

Comparée aux USA et à l’Allemagne, la Suisse, vu sa petitesse, possède un nombre impressionnant de compagnies high-tech actives dans plusieurs domaines industriels. Voici quelques exemples de start-ups de Suisse romande, choisies par le journal local LE TEMPS, qui ont défié la chronique de la bourse :

En comparant aux EU, ou Allemagne F;d;rale, la Suisse a récemment démondtré un nombre étonnat de sociétés high-tech dans de très vastes domaines différentes d’industries. Decisive turnpoint (climax) of Swiss hightech companies

A year ago, NASDAQ, the American stock exchange for high-tech enterprises reached its highest record of 5,048 points on the 10^th of March 2000, after a dizzy increase by 100 percent in 6 months. At that time, investors were simply disappointed when his share value didn’t increase more than 60 per cent. Highlights of such shares were those companies in ''dot.com'', multimedia, biotechnology, life science, and other high-tech domain. Just a few lines of business plan based on new idea, were enough for young entrepreneurs to pick up millions of start-up fund.

With a delay over 10 years, this euphoria finally reached even Switzerland, where just one year ago any adventurous young entrepreneur, simply unable to find a penny of seed capital in the shivery Swiss financial atmosphere, desperately flew with a single suitcase to Silicon Valley to look for new opportunities. SWX, the Swiss version of NASDAQ has followed the American trend and created several flushing examples of start-ups, such as Think Tool, which saw an increase of 300 per cent on the day of issue.

Then, the situation started to change. Between March and April, NASDAQ lost 34 per cent, and the downfall continued until January 2^nd, on which it recorded the deepest low of 2,292 points, meaning 55 percent decrease in a year. In Switzerland, the portion of ‘’dot.com’’, and B2C (business to consumers) being less significant, and the variety in high-tech much higher, the degrading situation was not quite the same. The investors still continue its activities, but have become much more selective. First, its evaluation of the object’s value became substantially severer, and second, it claims higher portion of participation (say 20 percent instead of 10), and third, insist on the breakeven point within 2 to 3 years, and not 10 years any more.

Compared to USA or Germany, Switzerland has, despite its tiny size, enjoys nowadays quite an impressive number of high-tech companies over a very wide range of different industrial field; here are some example of several leaders of start-ups　picked up by the local paper LE TEMPS in the French part of Switzerland representing different sectors of industry, which were highlighted in the stock market of the country:

1年前の2000年3月10日、ハイテク企業が多数上場している米店頭株式市場(ナスダック)は、半年間で倍増というジェット気流に乗って、過去最高の総合指数5,048に到達した。　当時は、投資家の多くが、自分の投資した株が‘6割しか値上がりしなかった’などと嘆いていたものだ。　注目を浴びた値上り株は、ドットコム企業やマルチメディア、バイオ、生化学などのハイテク分野の企業株。新しいアイディアがあれば2～3行の事業計画でも、青年起業家が開業資金に数百万ドルを集めることさえ可能という、よき時代であったのだ。

他方、スイスは、つい1年余前まで若き意欲ある起業家にとって、誰もここでは開業資本を1銭たりと調達できぬと諦め、先を争って鞄一つでシリコンバレーに新しいチャンスを求めて飛び立っていくような冷めた市場環境であった。それが今、10年遅れで遂に、スイスにもアメリカの浮かれ気分が伝播してきたのだ。　その結果、スイス版ナスダックのSWXは、ご本家に負けじとばかり、初日に300%の値上がりを見せた Think Tool社を初め、派手な新規上場株を次々と生み出す結果となった。

しかし、市場の変調は以外に早くやってきた。　昨年3月から4月にかけてナスダックは34%下がり、その後も下降線を辿り、本年1月2日には2,292の最低水準を記録するに至った。　1年で55%の下落になる。スイスでは、ドットコム企業やB2C企業の占める割合がアメリカに比べ低い半面、ハイテク企業の多様性が非常に高いため、情勢悪化の度合いは、本家とは可也異なっている。　つまり、投資家の活動は引き続き活発ではあるが、投資姿勢で極めて選別志向が強まってきたということが先ず指摘できるであろう。　先ず投資先の価値評価がとても厳しくなっていること、二つ目には投資家が投資先への資本参加率を高めてきていること(即ち資本金に占めるベンチャーキャピタルの資本参加率がシンボリックな10%から最低20%へと上昇、実質的な経営参加の姿勢が見えていること、三番目に、かつては10年先でも構わぬとしてきた黒字転換を、今や2～3年で達成するよう要求する姿勢に変わってきていることが指摘できる。

スイスは、アメリカやドイツと比べて遥かに小国ではあるが、今日ハイテク産業があらゆる工業分野に広がり、数多存在する点は驚嘆に値する。　以下、フランス系地方紙ル・タン紙に取り上げられた、当国株式市場で注目される、スイス仏語圏のスタートアップを代表するの幾つかの企業を取り上げてみよう。
